No Farm Stand this week as the farmers take their son to college. Our hardworking interns will be holding down the farm, and keeping up with the fall harvest. New Farm Stand hours will begin upon our return: Saturdays 9am-1pm, beginning September 24. We’ll have all the fall favorites – winter squash and pumpkins, dry beans, onions, carrots, potatoes and more!
TOMATOES: Farm Stand Tuesday 4-7pm
It’s busting out tomatoes here on the farm, and wow do we have a deal for you! $3lb OR if you stock up on 10 pounds or more, the price goes down to $2lb!
- Pop them in the freezer as is for garden fresh goodness all winter long! Skins come right off, making sauces and stews a snap!
- If you have more time now than later, roasting chopped tomatoes, and whatever sauce veggie you love in the oven – 90 minutes or so at 400 degrees. Stir every 20 minutes or so. When cooked down, remove, cool down, bag and freeze. Easy pasta in the dead of winter!
This week we are also picking lettuce, green beans, beets, eggplant, basil, peppers, cabbage, pie pumpkins, sweet corn, chard, carrots, onions and hops!

The Romanesco is ready! This unique-looking veggie tastes like a mix between broccoli and cauliflower. We’ll have it this week at the Farm Stand along with lettuce, green beans, cabbage, peppers (sweet and hot), tomatoes, turnips, pac choi, basil and farmhouse flower bouquets.
Farm Stand Tuesday 4-7pm
Peppers (sweet and hot) and chard have arrived – as has our summer, evidently! In addition, this week we are harvesting parsley, pac choi, turnips, scallions, zucchini, cabbage, beets, peas, kale, basil, lettuce and broccoli. Need a new idea for basil? I finally got around to trying this Green Goddess Chicken recipe that uses basil and scallions – it turned out beautifully bronzed and yummy!
